Privacy Policy - AISync

1. Overview

AISync ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the AISync Chrome Extension ("Extension").

2. Data Storage - 100% Your Google Drive

All your data is stored directly on your personal Google Drive. We do not operate any central servers that store your conversations, memories, or personal information.

  • Memories are saved to: /Apps/AISync/user_id_xxxx/memories/
  • Vectors are saved to: /Apps/AISync/user_id_xxxx/vectors/
  • Profile data is saved to: /Apps/AISync/user_id_xxxx/profile/
  • All files use random 64-character filenames for additional privacy

3. Permissions Required

AISync requires the following Google Drive permissions:

  • drive.file: Create and manage files only in the AISync folder. Cannot access other files on your Drive.
  • drive.appdata: Store extension configuration in AppData folder (hidden, not visible in Drive UI).
  • gmail.send: Send Weekly Digest emails. Only sends emails, does not read your inbox.
  • userinfo.email: Get your email to create a personal Drive folder. Only reads email, no other information.

4. Data We Never Collect

We never collect, store, or transmit:

  • Chat content or conversation text
  • IP addresses
  • Personal identifying information (beyond email for folder creation)
  • Code snippets or file contents
  • Browsing history outside of AI platforms

5. Optional Telemetry (Opt-In Only)

If you opt-in during onboarding, we collect anonymized usage statistics:

  • Number of successful memory injections per day
  • Most used AI platform
  • Most clicked feature
  • Anonymous session ID (32-character random hash)

This telemetry is:

  • Opt-in only (default: OFF)
  • Completely anonymized (no personal data)
  • Sent to: https://telemetry.aisync.asia/telemetry
  • Can be disabled anytime in Settings

6. Local Storage

AISync uses Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) to cache:

  • User ID (random 32-character string)
  • Drive folder IDs
  • Extension configuration
  • Recent memories cache (for offline functionality)

This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the extension.

7. IndexedDB Cache

For performance, AISync caches memories locally in IndexedDB:

  • Up to 80 most recent memories (for offline injection)
  • Vector embeddings (for fast similarity search)
  • Code entries and tags

This cache is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

8. Data Deletion

When you uninstall AISync:

  • All local storage is automatically cleared
  • IndexedDB cache is deleted
  • You can optionally delete the entire /Apps/AISync/ folder from Google Drive using the "Export Vault" feature

Note: Due to Chrome Extension limitations, automatic Drive folder deletion on uninstall may not always work. You can manually delete the folder from Google Drive if needed.

9. Private Vault Export

The "Export Vault" feature allows you to:

  • Export all memories, vectors, and profile data
  • Encrypt with AES-256-GCM (PBKDF2 with 600,000 rounds)
  • Password-protected (you set the password)
  • Optionally delete data from Drive after export

The exported vault file is stored locally on your device. We never see or store your vault password.

10. Third-Party Services

AISync uses:

  • Google Drive API: For data storage (your Drive, not ours)
  • Gmail API: For sending Weekly Digest emails (only sends, never reads)
  • Telemetry endpoint (if opted-in): telemetry.aisync.asia - receives only anonymized statistics

We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or any other third-party tracking.

11. Children's Privacy

AISync is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
